Planting

From bulk-seed capabilities with our central commodity system to split row models, and from narrow transport widths to multiple frame and row width configurations, our planters are designed to provide you with solutions to your planting needs no matter what crop you plant or what tillage conditions you plant into. We offer the productivity, technology, and agronomic benefits that you require to get the maximum yield from each seed that you plant.

DB Planters

The DB (Deere/Bauer) line of planters are front-folding, large-frame planters that offer the greatest field productivity in the industry. These large planters utilise three- or five-section frames that flex to match ground contour but also fold to a very manageable transport width. DB planters are offered in a variety of frame sizes and row-spacing options. These planters range from 44 ft to 90 ft (13.4 m to 27.4 m) in planting width. Row spacings of 20 in. (508 mm), 22 in. (558 mm), and 30 in. (762 mm) are available.

Drawn Planters

Ever since the introduction of the famous MaxEmerge XP™ row-unit, John Deere has led the way with innovative planters that deliver outstanding seed-spacing accuracy, depth control, and seed-to-soil contact for superior germination. Today, John Deere continues that tradition of technology leadership with a line of drawn planters featuring exclusive MaxEmerge XP™ row-units, and the proven VacuMeter™ seed metering.

Integral Planters

If you’re looking for a hitch-mounted planter, this is the place to start. John Deere offers a broad range of models in rigid, vertical-fold, and stack-fold frame designs.

All provide pick-up-and-go mobility and the superior seed spacing accuracy that have made John Deere integral planters so popular among cotton, peanut, corn, and vegetable producers.

Row Units

The MaxEmerge XP™ and Pro-Series XP™ row units take rugged performance and long life to the next level. Extra performance, extra productivity, extra precision, and extra profitability are just a few of the “extras” the XP row units bring to your operation. And now XP row units are standard on all new John Deere planters.

MaxEmerge XP™ Row Unit

A high-strength, high-tech, ductile-iron shank and head unit provides 50% more frontal impact resistance and 25% more resistance to side deflection even in the toughest no-till and contour planting conditions.

The heavy duty diamond series Tru-Vee™ opener blades, double-row opener bearings, and revised seed-tube guard have all been designed to enhance the in-field performance, durability and productivity of your planting operation.

Other features
  • A precision machined centre hub and housing heavier hub springs for accurate precise seed drop
  • Optional heavy duty down force systems with up to 180 kilograms of pressure per row
  • The new Flush-Face Seed Tube has the AccuCount™ Sensor for uninterrupted seed drop and improved spacing
  • Chemical-Saver Metering System reduces wasteful chemical spillage when turning and in transport
  • Handy Y Chemical Bander allows for dual in-furrow chemical application
  • T-handle design makes adjusting the gauge wheels quick and easy
  • Cast Closing-Wheel Arm allows for more consistent alignment over the furrow
  • Staggered closing wheels reduce plugging
  • Available with Pro-Shaft™ Drive option for all planters with a VacuMeter™ (excludes dry chemical system)
Pro-Series XP™ Row Unit

Some components on the Pro-Series XP™ unit will look familiar. The Tru-Vee™ opening and closing system, gauge wheels, and seed metering systems are the same on both types of row units.

But there are some big differences – most notably the mini hoppers, which hold only a fraction of the seed of a standard 1.6-bushel hopper, so there’s no weight variation on the row unit as you plant to deliver better depth control.

Other features

  • Two down force options let you match down-pressure to your conditions
  • The new Flush-Face Seed Tube has the AccuCount™ Sensor for uninterrupted seed drop and improved spacing
  • Standard with the enhanced VacuMeter™ for improved spacing
  • Positive locking seed-tube guard protects the tube and helps maintain a more-precise seed drop and seed spacing
  • Pro-Shaft™ Drive provides a smother operation and improved reliability
  • Optional coulters, row-cleaners, sweepers and closing accessories
  • A window on the vacuum meter housing, you can readily see if meters are working properly
